This paper investigates ballistic performance of two different ceramic-based armor designs using finite element analysis.The first design is a bi-layer armor consists of a ceramic front layer and a Kevlar-29 composite backing layer.The second design consists of a ceramic filled honeycomb front layer and a Kevlar-29 composite backing layer.3D finite element models are developed with wahl power grip clippers the commercial software Abaqus/Explicit.The models are validated by comparing against experimental results from different sources.
